I have a daily routine of hanging with the girls from the neighborhood at the local cafe every night for my cup of Earl Grey tea. (Oh yeah I'm wild!) When girls get together we do what we do best and thats TALK...or better yet CACKLE!!! Ok so its Valentines Day tomorrow....so you know conversations were bitter. I could not do anything more but be a pleasant observer to the pity party they were throwing. I have been excitingly unattached to a man and a relationship for some time now and have had the invaluable opportunity to see how much work I still have to do.
My crowning achievement thus far is that there is no
NEED on my part to go and find another one. My sentiment is... He will find me!
I left the cafe last night pondering about how we as women value our men.
YES!!!! we already know what they AIN'T doing. I meet
lames ALL the time. However, I can't negate that over the years I have been in the presence of some amazing men who truly commanded my attention enough to want to discover the multi-dimensional aspects to the architecture of a man, particularly the Black Man. I too believe as women we have been inundated with stereotypes of what a man should be, they have now become an expectation. At times I feel we have lost perspective of our roles as women that it seems audacious and arrogant to demand anything more than what we are willing to give ourselves. I am always touched and humbled in the presence of a man who is on the path of Self-Discovery rather than the path of learning to be a man....I believe it comes automatically. I know too many Black Men with tremendous character who obviously feel marginalized by those same stereotypes. Despite the negativity, these men have made a commitment to SELF...a pursuit whose journey will reap the rewards no man or woman can ever promise. As women I believe our role is to stand as a pillar to our men so they too can enjoy the luxury and the vulnerability of going within...a gift that is rightfully theirs. At the end of the day it seems very shallow to me to go out and "find a man." I chuckle at the thought for the mere fact that one has yet to discover the blessing in finding ones Self.
So to all my sistahs...Get It together...we got work to do!
To my brothas...the lame game is played out...Step with KING STATUS
Besides, thats the ONLY status a lady like me repsonds to because I come equally matched!!
This is to all our men who are in pursuit of SELF.
May our Kings rise again
